Jordi Mas, one of the Development Directors at Applus+, played a crucial role in the early stages of the NEXTBAT project. As the “project farmer,” Jordi planted the seed of what would become one of the most ambitious initiatives in sustainable battery technology. It was Jordi who initially recognized the potential for collaboration between Applus and two other major players in the industry: VTT and Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). Through his leadership, he set the foundation for what is now a project at the forefront of sustainable mobility solutions. “I only planted the seed and germinated the NEXTBAT,” says Jordi, reflecting on his early contributions.
His ability to identify and attract top-tier partners was instrumental in shaping the NEXTBAT team. The collaboration between Applus, VTT, BSC, and other partners quickly came together, resulting in a powerhouse consortium of expertise focused on developing innovative battery technologies for electrified transport.
Building a Transversal Work Team
Once the project was approved, Jordi took on the challenge of assembling a transversal work team at Applus, bringing together specialists from various departments to drive the project forward. This collaborative approach has allowed Applus to stay at the forefront of the NEXTBAT project while ensuring that the best people are in charge of its execution.
Although Jordi has since handed over the day-to-day operations of the project to his capable colleagues, his role in laying the foundation and shaping the team remains critical to its success.
