Lisa-Lou Gracia: Advancing Thermal Management and Numerical Tools for the NEXTBAT Project at CEA

As part of the NEXTBAT project, which is dedicated to pioneering innovative and sustainable battery technologies for electrified transport, Lisa-Lou plays a crucial role in driving forward research and development efforts at CEA. As the project manager for the CEA team, Lisa-Lou is responsible for overseeing the development of cutting-edge solutions, such as a novel thermal management system in Work Package 4 and advanced numerical tools in Work Package 3. Through coordination and collaboration, she ensures that CEA’s contributions align with the broader goals of NEXTBAT and foster productive partnerships with other project members.

Pioneering Innovation in Thermal Management and Numerical Tools

CEA’s involvement in NEXTBAT is instrumental in pushing the boundaries of battery efficiency and safety. Work Package 4 focuses on the development of a next-generation thermal management system, a key component in optimizing battery performance and longevity. Managing heat distribution and dissipation is essential to ensuring the reliability and safety of high-performance batteries, particularly in demanding electrified transport applications.

In parallel, Work Package 3 is dedicated to advancing numerical tools that support the development and optimization of battery systems. These computational models and simulations provide invaluable insights into battery behavior, enabling precise predictions and improvements in design before physical prototyping.

Driving Efficient Collaboration Between Research and Industry

A key aspect of Lisa-Lou’s work is ensuring a seamless and productive collaboration between CEA and the industrial partners involved in NEXTBAT. Research-driven innovation thrives when it is effectively translated into real-world applications, and her role is to facilitate this transition. By bridging the gap between fundamental research and industrial deployment, CEA’s contributions help lay the groundwork for the next generation of battery technologies.

Through Lisa-Lou’s guidance, the CEA team actively engages with project stakeholders, exchanging knowledge and expertise to drive progress across different work packages. This synergy between academia, research centers, and industry partners is what makes NEXTBAT a flagship initiative for sustainable and high-performance battery development.

Passion for Science and the Outdoors

Beyond the laboratory and project meetings, Lisa-Lou finds inspiration in the natural surroundings of Grenoble, located at the heart of the Alps. An avid enthusiast of outdoor activities, she enjoys climbing, hiking, and skiing.

Shaping the Future of Battery Technology

Lisa-Lou’s contributions to NEXTBAT at CEA represent a critical step in advancing thermal management and computational modeling for battery systems. By leading the development of innovative technologies and fostering strong collaborations between research and industry, she helps ensure that NEXTBAT remains at the forefront of battery innovation.
